Lisa Kersey

Portrait Artist · Animal Lover · Faith-Inspired Creator

Lisa Kersey creates art that feels like a quiet prayer—full of gratitude, beauty, and hope. Born on Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas, and now rooted in West Tennessee, Lisa has been drawing since kindergarten, when horses first captured her imagination. Today, her work focuses on people and animals, aiming to create portraits that not only resemble but remember—inviting viewers to pause and feel a connection.

Each medium holds something special for her, but acrylic has offered the most freedom and color in her journey. With a background in sign-making and photography, Lisa brings a keen eye for attention, emotion, and light. Her daily work in a photography lab continues to inspire her artistic eye, while her art practice is grounded in prayer and a deep sense of purpose.

Lisa paints in her personal creative spaces—her art room and the lovingly named “Kersey Cottage.” Though she describes her creative process as “a three-ring circus,” she finds her best focus when working one piece at a time. Her portraits are layered with personal experience, spiritual reflection, and the desire to make a moment last.

She’s exhibited locally in fairs and art association shows and has been featured in community media outlets like VIP Magazine and WBBJ TV. A member of the Jackson Art Association before the pandemic, Lisa continues to grow and be inspired by fellow artists at Art in the Village, including her mentor and friend Mary Spellings.

Lisa’s work is a personal expression of faith and remembrance—offering viewers a glimpse into why we’re here, and Who we’re here for.

“All my past is reflected in my art and prayers for hope now.”
