When I retired as a Licensed Professional Counselor/Mental Health Service Provider, I decided to give the potter's wheel a spin. I signed up for a clay course as a hobbyist with Lee Benson at Union University in Jackson, Tennessee, and I was hooked!
I'm not a natural, and my progress has been anything but stellar. In fact, I like to say that I pot for my own amazement. I find it very relaxing to feel the form emerge under my hands. The satisfaction is similar, for me at least, when using a vessel that was individually made by human hands.
My pottery is displayed at Art in the Village Gallery in Casey Jones Village in Jackson, Tennessee. I hope you'll find it satisfying too, and choose to own and use one of my pieces.
My kids and I are pottery nuts. They’ve inherited some of my collection, which I’ve been building for years. My appreciation for handmade pottery has been growing ever since I got to know a member of the well-known Gordy family of folk potters.
