Chris Holmes

Landscape Painter · Certified Bob Ross Instructor · Creator from the Heart

Chris Holmes paints what brings him joy—and he hopes it does the same for others. A Henderson, Tennessee native, Chris has been drawing since childhood, but it wasn’t until 2017 that he rediscovered his love for painting while watching Bob Ross. Inspired by Ross’s gentle spirit and deep love of nature, Chris picked up a brush, gave it a try, and hasn’t stopped since.

A self-taught artist with a God-given gift, Chris eventually became a certified Bob Ross instructor, allowing him to hone his skills and teach others using the wet-on-wet oil painting technique. He also paints in acrylics and enjoys experimenting with unique surfaces like wood slices and even old saw blades—turning ordinary objects into canvases for serenity.

Chris’s art is rooted in the world around him. From the foothills and ponds of West Tennessee to sweeping mountain scenes, his landscapes reflect a deep appreciation for God’s creation and the peace he finds in nature. His painting process is intuitive, shaped by mood and memory, with each brushstroke guided by feeling more than plan.

He paints in a personal studio he shares with his wife Anna, also an artist—an inspiring space full of warmth, creativity, and community. Chris typically works on one painting at a time, finding moments to create while balancing a full-time job. His gentle nature, patience, and encouragement have made him a favorite among students and workshop participants alike.

Chris has exhibited at local festivals such as the Chester County BBQ Festival and Saltillo Days, and his work is on display in Henderson’s City Hall, Courthouse, Farm Bureau, and local clinics. His artistic journey and uplifting spirit have been featured by WBBJ, PBS, Tennessee Highlighter, Bold Journey Magazine, and even the Bob Ross Podcast.

For Chris, art is more than just expression—it’s an offering of peace, beauty, and faith.

“God gave me this gift so I could share it—with joy, with love, and with a little piece of His creation on every canvas.”
