Pat C Patrick grew up in the small town of Myrtle in North Mississippi and majored in chemical
engineering at Mississippi State University. The closest she got to an art class in college was
drawing blueprints.
It was while working for the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation’s Division
of Water Pollution Control that she observed the variety of landscapes and flowers to be found
in Tennessee. Wanting an outlet to express this beauty, Patrick began painting classes with
Jackson artist Norma Dennison and, later, with Janice Sumler. She has continued her training
in workshops with various nationally known artists. Trips to Australia, China and New Zealand
have added to her collection of subject matter.
After 37 plus years protecting Tennessee’s water, 21 years as the manager of the program in
West Tennessee, Patrick retired to devote more time to her painting. She has won numerous
awards in local, regional and national competitions. She is a Signature Member in the
Southern Watercolor Society and the Tennessee Watercolor Society. Her work can be seen in
Art in the Village in Jackson, Tn.
I believe that God’s creating cannot be surpassed for inspirations. Sometimes they come to me
as dreams. My reproductions are a poor second, but I enjoy sharing them with others.
